Yamazaki Water Drop
Yamazaki is the birthplace of Japanese whisky located at the base of Mount Tennōzan in the Yamazaki region of Osaka Prefecture. Shinjiro Torii chose the site because of its unique climate, where the convergence of three rivers creates a humid environment that’s perfect for whisky maturation. The region’s soft, pure water was the centerpiece of tea master Sen No Rikyu’s personal tearoom, where the Japanese tea ceremony originated. The Yamazaki Water Drop pays respect to the cultural heritage of the distillery’s water source through a service ritual that elevates the aroma and character of the whisky to new heights.
By adding water slowly to a glass of Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whisky, you can experience how the unique multi-layered flavor o the whisky changes without becoming diluted.

How to Serve
Upon adding the initial few drops, a pleasant oak flavor and vanilla-like sweetness emerge, showcasing the distinct characteristic of the puncheon - the core component whisky aged for The Yamazaki 12-year-old.
As the whisky opens up, subtle hints of spiciness and a delicate acidity come to the forefront, unveiling a rich tapestry of flavors. These notes are influenced by the characteristics of Spanish oak, frequently compared to the essence of dried fruits and coffee chocolate.
With the addition of a few more drops, experience the seamless transition as the spicy undertones give way to a smokiness that gently rises to the surface. This elusive smoky character, once subtle, now reveals itself in a crescendo of flavor.
As the tasting journey nears its conclusion, the various aromas come together once more, creating a profound, multi-layered symphony of flavors that show a depth and complexity reminiscent of the enigmatic Japanese incense, Mizunara. Even when a substantial amount of water is introduced, the essence of The Yamazaki flavor remains unwavering - a testament to the robust character and harmony of its expertly crafted individual component whiskies.
